New pastor named

Rev. Andy Cunningham has been named to become the new pastor for the Fair Haven Worship Community, pending a final vote by the Chapelwood Charge Conference and the official start of the merger.

Andy has served at Chapelwood for three and a half years in a variety of roles, including working with men’s ministry and young adults, and helping shape Christian education and spiritual formation efforts. He also has had many opportunities to teach, preach and work with a variety of Chapelwood groups and worship communities.

A lifelong Methodist, Andy spent his childhood in Jackson, Mississippi, and went to college there, earning a Bachelor’s degree in English and history from the University of Mississippi. He went on to receive his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky.

Andy moved to Houston from South Carolina with his wife, Kaisi (pronounced “K-C”), son Ryvers (pronounced “Rivers”), who is eight, and daughter Ella, who is six.

The Fair Haven transition team met with Andy a couple of weeks ago. The unanimous impression was highly positive: Andy is warm and outgoing, a deeply committed Christian with a heart for reaching out to seekers and cynics as well as to lifelong believers.

Andy is eager to meet his new family at Fair Haven. As soon as a day and time are settled for him to come say hello, it will be announced in worship, Sunday school and the newsletter online and in print.

In the meantime, be praying for Andy and his family, and looking forward to being in ministry side-by-side with this dedicated servant.
